Bodiam Castle, East Sussex.
Bodiam Castle was built in 1385 Sir Edward Dalyngrigge a former knight of Edward III. It was built to defend against a possible French invasion during the Hundred Years' War.
I decided to fly here very early in the morning as I did not want to annoy any potential visitors. There are a couple of public rights of way that pass through the grounds so access can be gained to the grounds 24-7. However, public rights of way do not always allow for TOAL if on private land and the National Trust do not allow TOAL from their sites. It is however, perfectly legal to fly over as they do not own the airspace.
I took off from the main road just past the bridge and flew accross the river to the castle. The distance to the back of the moat was around 350m. As it was a very clear morning. I was able to easily keep a visual line of sight of the drone. This may be hard to do if the seeing is not very good so plan your visit for a very clear day.
