Pevensey Castle, East Sussex.
Pevensey Castle is a former Roman fort and Medieval castle. The large curtain wall is Roman with the inner keep being Medieval. The sea used to reach nearly all the way up to the southern side of the curtain wall but has over the years receeded by 1.5km leaving the castle landlocked.
As this castle is only a 25 minute drive from Bodiam Castle I flew here that same morning. There is a main road that skirts the north west side of the Roman curtain wall so finding a place to TOAL was a piece of cake. This is a large castle so you will need some height and distance to get it all in frame.
